Nutrient Removal

Removal of nitrite and ammonium compounds is essential for fish health.  This is achieved in our system using an aerated  mixture of natural and artificial substrates which we have found to be much more effective than a single artificial substrate alone.  Natural substrates support significantly more dense populations of denitrifying bacteria, resulting in much higher nitrate concentrations at the end of the process section.
